Constraints can sometimes act as a stimulus to creativity. My response to the coronavirus lockdown was to celebrate my garden DC (During Coronavirus). I wanted to interpret the drama, the changing light, the garden’s moods, its plants, the man-made elements/structures. Far from being limiting, this approach of concentrating on one subject/one place proved to be a great source of inspiration and opportunity.
I explored how many ways, using my impressionist photography techniques, I could portray my garden. Leaf and flower shapes, light and shade, texture and shadow, combined in many ways, and changing as the season progressed, meant I was never short of ideas.
