I am proud to announce that I have won the Abstract Views category of the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition 16 with my image Abandon Hope:
“All hope abandon ye who enter here.” – the infamous line from Dante’s ‘The Divine Comedy’, which was described as being the inscription on the gates to Hell. In this image I see the circles within circles of Dante’s Inferno, which I created from a bug hotel in my garden using in-camera image blending.
All of the images in this gallery were successful in the IGPOTY Abstract Views category in competitions 15 (2021) and 16 (2022).
And in competition 14 (2020) I won first prize in the Portfolio category, together with a Royal Photographic Society Gold Medal. You can see my winning panel of images in my Hosta Patterns gallery.
All of these images were created in my own small garden.
